Building Sustainable Solutions to Placement Capacity in Allied Health Education
The Australian Council of Deans of Health Sciences (ACDHS) commissioned a national research project in 2024 to tackle a critical issue: the limited capacity for student placements in allied health education. This report, developed by a team of researchers from five Australian universities, highlights how workforce development, accreditation systems, and policy silos intersect to constrain placement opportunities across the country.
The report emphasises that solving this issue requires more than short-term fixes. It calls for cross-sector, system-wide changes that can support the future growth and sustainability of Australia’s allied health workforce.
This report is just the beginning. Over the coming months, ACDHS will:
- Share key findings with policymakers and education leaders
- Engage media to highlight the urgency of reform
- Collaborate with partners including AHPA, CDNM and MDANZ
