Members of the Australian Council of Deans of Health Sciences explored issues and challenges in developing university clinics at recent workshop in Canberra. Common benefits included: the volume of health care services provided by students working under supervision in university clinics, the opportunity to embed interprofessional practice and improved access to services. After liaising with local health service providers, many clinics were specifically designed to address local service gaps. Outcomes and innovations will be shared with members in coming months.
